Night Wings (Shockers)
Published in Paperback by Price Stern Sloan Pub (May, 1993)
Authors: John Peel, Stephen Brennan, and Eric Shawn Cherry
Average review score:

Gothic horror at its best.
John Peel is one of the greatest writers to ever grace bookstores with his works. His "Shockers" series is no exception. The best in the series was "Dead End," and this one, "Night Wings," was not bad.

Parents Please Don't Sit on Your Kids
Published in Paperback by Lake Pub Co (January, 1985)
Author: Clare Cherry
Average review score:

The best book on discipline I've seen in 10 years of looking
This book, written by an experienced mother & grandmother & nursery-school director all rolled into one, packs a whole approach to healthy families into just 178 pages. It is full of practical information (including sample dialogues) about how to make discipline a positive process. So many former struggles become easy. Clare Cherry is a very wise lady and her ideas have helped us produce a capable, pleasant, self-reliant 10-year-old and enjoy the process. As the old adage says, children do what we DO, not what we SAY. Children who are treated politely and with respect grow up to show the same courtesy to their parents and to other people. This book shows you how to make that happen.

A BRAVE NEW WORLD
With the current advances in medical technology, this book is a must read for anyone who hopes to gain a greater understanding of what is sure to become a major issue in just a few years. The book is not what one would call "light, pool-side reading". With an important issue like this however, would we really want it to be?

Planning Ahead for Pregnancy: Health, Fitness, and Fertility
Published in Paperback by Penguin USA (Paper) (June, 1988)
Authors: Sheldon H. Cherry and Cherry H. Sheldon
Average review score:

I Wish I'd Read This Book Sooner!
I found Planning Ahead for Pregnancy informative, supportive, and helpful. I wish that I hadn't waited until I wanted to try having a baby to read it. Dr. Cherry's advice is basic and sound, and not as overwhelming as some of the other nutrition books I've read. Give it a try if you can get your hands on it!

Poetry Galore & More With Shel Silverstein

Poetry Galore & More with Shel Silverstein
Although this book was written with teachers in mind as the reader, it is very useful for parents as well. I think every teacher for this age group should definitely have this book. And as a parent who wants to be intimately involved in my child's education and literary growth, I'm thrilled to have the book as a resource. It has great, fun games and activity ideas for many of Shel Silverstein's writings. The activities are simple enough that I don't feel intimidated to follow through with doing them (instead of just reading about it). The games and activities are simple and explained concisely. I enjoyed reading it, and I look forward to using several of the ideas when my daughter is a little older (and reading).

Primus Anthology O Thru Z: For Guitar and Bass
Published in Paperback by Hal Leonard (June, 2000)
Authors: Cherry Lane Music and Frank
Average review score:

Les claypool revealed!!
This book is a much needed explination of the insanity of Les Claypool's bass style. His slap bass style with bits of tapping, usually on a 5 string bass, occasionally fretless. I have been trying for years to decifer les's music, and now it's finally possible. worth every penny and every second of practice. This is perfect for any primus fan who is instrumental, but be warned, Les' music "is!" as hard to play as it sounds. Have fun.

An in-depth set of articles on the economic boom
Under the expert editorial guidance of Robert Cherrry and William Rodgers, Prosperity for All? provides an in-depth set of articles on the economic boom and Afro-American experiences. While employment among blacks has risen to an all-time high, the book questions whether one type of disadvantage has been replaced by another, and examines what types of jobs are offered to Afro-Americans, and by whom. Excellent survey of the realities of the new prosperity for the underclass.

The most in-depth, honest, practical, accurate BOOK
This book is the most in-depth, honest, surprisingly accurate book ever on Korea. As a native Korean, I believe that his perspectives on Korean economic, political, social issues go along well with information he provides with. Distinctive analysis of the Korean society and its people and ample examples and stories will amaze you. Oh, no. If you were not an insider of Korean issues, you may never be able to fathom the depth of this book's value. Strongly recommended to foreign business people who are open to Korean culture and Korean people who need to look into an expert's insights about Korea.

Rising Venus: Poems
Published in Paperback by Louisiana State University Press (April, 2002)
Author: Kelly Cherry
Average review score:

You will be honored to own a copy.
Working in a public library, I read voraciously. Poets are my people, and Kelly Cherry is my poet. This, her latest collection, is the book I fell into, this summer, this autumn, and now winter. I've carried my copy to Albuquerque, to Michigan, to work. Simply, it's the company I want to keep.

The title poem revises the myth of Venus into human form-- a women who rises into herself:
"Myth is the portal / through which we pass, / becoming human at last, / rising out of dream / and desire to realms / of reality, where love, / a woman, by Jove, / survives, strong and free, / engendering her own destiny".

Certainly, there is despair in this book. There is also a miracle which unfolds itself within the arc. Right at its center, the line where despair meets peace in the heart of a woman is fully, uniquely and authentically rendered.

The skill of this poet is unreal, really. At the risk of sounding dramatic: I cannot fathom a world without these poems. They belong to every place. They alter my space, my mode, my identity, and my regard for other people.
